Ana de Armas Career, TV Show

Ana de Armas was born in Havana, Cuba, and grew up in Santa Cruz del Norte. Her dad had different jobs, and her mom worked in the human resources section of the Ministry of Education. She lived through tough times in Cuba’s Special Period, facing rationing and blackouts, but she remembers her early years as happy. At just 12 years old, with limited exposure to popular culture, she decided to become an actress. Joining Havana’s National Theatre of Cuba at 14, she left a four-year drama course early to avoid mandatory community service. At 18, she moved to Madrid to follow her acting dreams.

Ana started her career in Spanish cinema, featuring in movies like Una rosa de Francia (2006) and El edén perdido (2007). Later, she moved to Madrid and acted in the TV drama El Internado (2007-2010). Despite feeling typecast, she kept working in Spain, taking on roles in films such as El callejón (2011) and Anabel (2015). In 2014, she made a move to Los Angeles, learned English, and starred in films like Knock Knock (2015) and War Dogs (2016). Her big break came in 2019 with Knives Out, leading to roles in films like No Time to Die (2021) and Blonde (2022). With dual Cuban and Spanish citizenship, as of 2023, she resides in Vermont.
