Meet Discord

According to Wikipedia, the Discord application was released on May 13, 2015, originally from America which was designed to create a community. Users communicate by voice calls, video, text messages, media and files in private chats or as part of the community’s “servers”.

A server is a collection of persistent chat rooms and voice chat channels. Discord runs on Windows, MacOS, Android, iOS, Linux and Web browsers. Until July 2019 there were more than 250 million users.

Quoted from Discord.com, Discord users can be used for quite serious needs such as consultations related to mental health.

It’s just that in its development, Discord is more often used by online game players, with its main advantage being that it has better sound quality than voice chat from the default game being played.

Discord features are as follows:

1. Servers

The server is a room within Discord and is useful for creating groups, usually invitation only. However, it is possible that this feature can also function as a global or public community.

2. Channel

In a server, there is a feature in the form of a channel that can be used for discussions in the form of text or sound.

On text channels, users can send messages, upload files, and share an image with group members and can be viewed at any time.

Then the voice channel, users can make voice or video calls in real time and share screens with the friends concerned.

3. DM AND Grub DM

DM or direct message is a feature where users can send private messages to other users, which can be voice or video.

4. Notro

Nitro is a premium service and is subscription based. By subscribing to Nitro, Discord users can get a myriad of facilities such as uploading larger documents, streaming and sharing screens in HD quality, special Emoji and much more.

5. Discord Bot

You can also add bots to the server. This Discord third-party feature can “colorize” your server, from helping as an auto moderator, playing music, to playing text-based games.
