Sanam Puri Career

In 2003, Venkat Subramaniyam, also known as Venky S, and Samar Puri, who were classmates in school, decided to form a band. Samar invited Sanam to be the band’s vocalist, and after completing their schooling, they all moved to India for college. During this time, they became involved in the college rock circuit, and Sanam began participating in singing competitions and winning them all. In Delhi, Sanam was also part of a band called “Bandish.” Venky met Keshav Dhanraj through the college rock circuit, and together they formed a band called “The Previous Band.”

However, the band was active for a brief period as two of its members went to a musical institute in Los Angeles. In 2009, Sanam and his brother went to Mumbai to pursue a career in music. Venky reconnected with all the band members, and in 2010, they participated in a national competition called “Times Music Supastars” as “SQS Project.” The band released its first album, “Supastars,” under this name.

In 2012, the band met Ben Thomas, the Managing Director of Kurian & Co Talent Management, which has managed the careers of artists like Sonu Nigam and Vishal-Shekhar. The band has since released two more studio albums, “Samar Sanam” (2011) and “Sanam Revolution” (2018), as well as several compilation albums, including “In Love with Sanam” (2017), “Sanam Revisited” (2015), “Universally Sanam” (2019), and “Memories Vol. 1” (2020). The band gained recognition by posting their songs on YouTube, with their first cover of “Ainvayi Ainvayi” in October 2012.

In 2015, the band gained recognition on YouTube. Sanam Puri made his debut as a playback singer with the Bollywood song “Dhat Teri Ki” from the film “Gori Tere Pyar Mein” (2013).
