What should be the function of the State Cyber and Crypto Agency

Reporting from Wikipedia, the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) is a government agency of the Republic of Indonesia which is a transformation of the National Crypto Agency which was established on April 4, 1946 and changed its name in May 2017.

This institution is tasked with implementing cyber security and cryptography effectively and efficiently by utilize, develop and consolidate all elements related to cybersecurity and passwords.

From the official website of the BSSN, information was obtained that the task of this institution was to carry out government duties in the field of cyber security and ciphers to assist the President in administering government.

There are also several functions, as follows:

• Formulation and establishment of technical policies in the field of cybersecurity and passwords.
• Implementation of technical policies in the field of cyber security and passwords.
• Preparation of norms, standards, procedures and criteria in the field of coding.
• Implementation of technical guidance and supervision in the field of coding.
• Coordination of task implementation, coaching, and administrative support to all organizational elements within the BSSN.
• Management of state property which is the responsibility of BSSN
• Implementation of substantive support to all elements of the organization within the BSSN.
• Supervision of the implementation of tasks within the BSSN.

The strategic goals of the Indonesian Cyber Security gentlemen group are achieving cyber resilience, public service security, cyber law enforcement, cyber security culture and cyber security in the digital economy. This strategy is expected to become one of the foundations of world trust in Indonesia in various international cybersecurity forums.

Of course not, this has been reinforced by recent cyber attacks. Starting with the leak of SIM card data, data from PLN, Indihome and the worst data from the President of the Republic of Indonesia.

The attack that occurred seemed to be a punishment for the weakness of cyber security in Indonesia, hopefully with this incident our country will become more aware of its own security in the cyber field.
