Taryn Hatcher career

Taryn Hatcher was born on December 24, 1992, in Delran, New Jersey, to parents Jeff and Connie Hatcher. She grew up with her older brother, Kyle Hatcher, who went on to become a helicopter pilot in the United States Navy after graduating from the Naval Academy.

Taryn had a deep love for sports from a young age. Her family had a strong connection to sports – her grandpa played football, her dad played basketball, and her brother was a hockey player. Taryn herself dabbled in ballet, jazz, tap, and later, soccer. She attended various sports events, including her brother’s Navy games, and always dreamt of becoming a sports reporter.

Her passion for sports reporting ignited when, at the age of 10, she watched a Duke-UNC basketball game with her dad. She admired the excitement and passion brought by broadcaster Dick Vitale and said, “Can you imagine being someone who gets paid to do that, to watch and talk about it?” Her dad encouraged her, and that dream stuck with her.

Taryn’s journey toward her dream began in college at Rutgers University, where she pursued two degrees in journalism, Mass Media Studies, and Political Science. While in college, she gained experience as a social media and production intern at iHeart Radio in 2013. In the same year, she interned at Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia, which is now known as NBC Sports Philadelphia, her current employer.

After completing her third internship at the CBS Corporation in the sports department, she transitioned from intern to full-time employee when she was hired by the Big Ten Network (BTN) as a freelance sideline reporter for NCAA basketball.

Upon graduation, she took a significant step by moving to Honolulu, Hawaii, where she worked for Hawaii News Now as a sports anchor and reporter. There, she co-hosted and co-produced the “Nick Rolovich Show,” a program about the University of Hawaii football team. In the summer of 2018, she joined NBC Sports Philadelphia as a multi-platform reporter and host.

Taryn had a soccer background, playing as a center-midfield and center-defender, but had to quit the game due to leg injuries. During her soccer playing days, Carli Lloyd served as her major inspiration.

In her role as a sports reporter and host, Taryn has gained popularity in Philadelphia. She is known for her work on pre/post-game shows and her ability to connect with fans, sharing the human side of the game.

Regarding her personal life, Taryn was previously in a relationship with a man named Austen Freeborn, who worked as an auditor for the Bank of America.

Taryn also worked as a waitress at Chickie’s and Pete’s, a sports bar in Philadelphia, to support her college expenses. Additionally, she volunteered with organizations like Habitat for Humanity and Relay for Life.

Taryn has a substantial following on social media, with nearly 60k followers on Twitter and over 80k followers on her Instagram account. Her role models in the industry are Kathryn Tappen and Rachel Nicholas. While we don’t have precise information about her salary and net worth, she enjoys a successful career with NBC Sports Philadelphia.
