Jake Ricca Comedy career

Jake Ricca, born on January 15th, 1993, in Orlando, Florida, is a comedian who has found success on social media through his YouTube and TikTok comedy videos. He’s not only a comedian but also a versatile talent in the entertainment industry. Jake’s journey from a 9-to-5 job to comedy stardom has been filled with challenges and personal struggles.

He completed his education at Olympic Heights High School in Boca Raton, Florida, and later graduated from the University of Central Florida in 2016 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. After graduation, he initially worked as a Regional Account Manager at Granite Telecommunications but later transitioned to the role of Vice President of Contractor Development at Casa Labs.

The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic brought a halt to traditional stand-up comedy, but it provided an opportunity for Jake to shine in the world of online comedy, particularly through his “Call of Duty” comedy sketches. Before gaining fame on social media, Jake, a UCF business graduate, faced what he describes as the most challenging phase of his life.

During this time, he worked at a job counting pills in a factory. Although the pay was decent, the work itself lacked excitement. Additionally, he faced personal hardships, including a breakup with his girlfriend and the loss of his mother to ovarian cancer. His mother’s passing was a deeply emotional experience for him, as he saw regret in her eyes before she passed, which had a profound impact on his perspective.

His journey into comedy began when he stumbled upon the “Joe Rogan Experience” podcast, where comedians discussed their start in comedy through open mic nights. This revelation led Jake to try his hand at comedy. He performed during an open mic night at Austin’s Coffee in Winter Park. Although he was initially terrified, he noticed people laughing, and this encouraged him to continue.

He recalls, “I was terrified, and I barely remember the set, but I remember people laughing. Then I did a second show and I didn’t bomb that either, and I seriously thought I must be great at this. I was feeling pretty good until my third show. Then I bombed. But I kept going. I had to force myself to get back out there. Stop myself from being afraid. I genuinely loved it. It was one of the few things in my life that allowed me to feel something after my mom died.”

Jake became deeply involved in comedy, juggling two jobs while performing at multiple open mic shows each night. He believed that constant stage time would lead to success, but the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted his comedy journey.

During the pandemic, Jake immersed himself in playing video games. However, he soon found inspiration to create comedy from his gaming experiences. He began making “Warzone” sketches on TikTok, and one particular video, titled “when Warzone is life,” captured the audience’s attention. He uploaded these sketches to YouTube, and they gained massive popularity within six months.

His fame in the “Call of Duty” community skyrocketed when he released the “Sounds of Warzone” video, featuring his fictional character Hans Rimmer. Jake Ricca is known for his unique brand of comedy, which encompasses stand-up, gaming, and sketch comedy. His ultimate goal is to bring these elements together and create a series that reaches a wide audience of comedy and gaming enthusiasts.

Jake Ricca’s YouTube journey began on October 14th, 2017, with his first video, “Artificially Intelligent Razor.” With consistent content uploads, his videos gradually gained recognition.

Recently, he launched an online series titled “Get Good,” featuring himself and fellow Orlando comedians. The series follows the lead character’s quest to become a viral streamer in the world of online gaming while facing pressure from friends who want him to pursue a traditional job. Some of his most popular videos include “False Negative Covid Test,” “Intense Interview from Get Good,” and “Why My Dad Thinks I’m Gay,” each accumulating millions of views.

Reflecting on his burgeoning career, Jake expresses his passion for stand-up comedy and the joy of making people laugh on stage. He finds being on stage and eliciting laughter to be the best feeling in the world. While he’s content with his current position in Orlando’s comedy scene, he acknowledges that there is more to achieve to reach his desired level of success.

On the social media front, Jake Ricca has garnered over 353k subscribers on YouTube and boasts more than 7.5k followers on Instagram. Additionally, he enjoys a strong presence on TikTok, with 6 million likes and 217k followers.

Before his comedy career took off, Jake worked as a Security Officer (Bouncer) at Knights Library for a period. He also has an interesting personal history, including an arrest at the age of 17 and an encounter with an adult film star before her career in the adult industry began.
